50 HOURS

YIN

Registration for our 2023 summer session is now open.

MORE THAN JUST A SLEEPY STRETCH.

Usually known as the class with "all the pillows + blankets", yin Yoga is beloved for its relaxing qualities. But, beyond its ability to relieve stress + help you sleep better, yin Yoga can also be a wonderful space for introspection + healing.

This training explores all of the aspects of the yin practice that make it such a nourishing practice physically, mentally, emotionally + energetically.

Whether you are a yoga teacher hoping to expand your teaching repertoire, or a Yin yoga enthusiast, our training will empower your personal practice + teaching career.

KIND WORDS FROM OUR 50 HOURS GRADS

"Just completed my 50-hour Yin training with Kylie at Omology. I have to say it was a well-balanced training between theory and practical. The training also provides experiential learning through the Yin sessions with Kylie and our self-practice videos which I truly appreciate. Nothing better than to experience a quality Yin class. Kylie is also a very passionate teacher that willingly shares her knowledge with us. I'm glad I hit the send button for my application."

YOUR
GUIDE

KYLIE DENIS

YACEP, E-RYT500

Lead Trainer

Kylie is the owner and founder of Omology Yoga. Hailing from a background of high-impact sport + Vinyasa Yoga she nearly walked out of her first yin Yoga class thinking "nope, definitely not for me".

It was not until years later that she experienced + learned the energetic + emotional benefits of yin Yoga which, she credits as the entry-point to her meditation practice.

So, suffice it to say that Kylie is definitely empathetic to those who find the practice of yin a little slow, maybe even boring + although yin yoga will never be a heart-pumping or thrilling practice, she hopes to inspire students through her mindfully crafted sequences + soothing playlists to journey inward + develop a soulfully-empowered Yin practice +/or teaching career.

PHILOSOPHY

We take a multi-dimensional + modern approach to our philosophical inquiry. In this section we explore Daoism, Buddhism, Yogic philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

We believe that these theoretical contributors are key elements for understanding the roots + intention behind our modern applications of the practice.

+ mindfulness

+ Traditional Chinese Medicine Qi Theory

+ the Meridian System & the 12 principle channels

+ the Extraordinary Vessels

+ acupressure

ANATOMY OF A YIN PRACTICE

A little known (but very important) fact is that Yin yoga targets very different tissues in the body than a yang Yoga practice. This section of the course provides helpful context for why we practice yin the way we do, as well as how to keep our bodies, + those of our students, safe.

+ Yang Yoga vs. Yin Yoga: important differences between passive + active postures

+ Yang tissues vs. Yin tissues

+ the Skeletal System: exploring tension and compression

+ the nervous system system + our mental health

+ myofascia + myofascial release (MFR)

+ incorporating MFR into the yin practice

+ dysfunctions, movement limitations, common ailments, injury prevention

+ pregnancy + yin yoga

YOGA NIDRA

Unique to our training program is an additional training in Yoga Nidra ("Yogic Sleep") meditation. Yoga Nidra is a conscious state between waking and sleeping that is induced via a guided meditation. It is practiced laying down + is known for relieving stress, improving sleep + reducing anxiety.

For obvious reasons, this relaxation is verrrrry complementary to the yin Yoga practice. Students graduating from our 50 Hours program will be able to script + conduct full Yoga Nidra meditations.

+ 3x 30-minute guided audio Yoga Nidra practices

+ the essential elements of a Yoga Nidra meditation

+ how to script your own Yoga Nidra for short + long practices
